VOV7 in SAP SD
In SAP SD (Sales and Distribution), VOV7 is the transaction code used to maintain item categories.
What is an item category?
An item category defines how a line item behaves in a sales transaction. SAP uses item categories to process a material differently in each sales document type (e.g., quotation, sales order, delivery, invoice).
Key features and functions of VOV7:
- Create new item categories: Define new item categories to cater to specific business requirements.
- Modify existing item categories: Adjust the properties of existing item categories.
- Control line item behavior: Determine various aspects of a line item’s behavior, such as:
- Relevance for billing: Whether the item can be billed.
- Pricing relevance: Whether the item can be priced.
- Delivery relevance: Whether the item can be delivered.
- Credit active: Whether the item should be included in credit checks.
- Assign item categories: Assign appropriate item categories to different sales document types and material types.
How to access VOV7:
- Enter
/nVOV7
in the SAP command field. - You will see a list of existing item categories. You can select one to modify or create a new one.
Examples of item categories:
- TAN: Standard item category for normal items relevant for billing and delivery.
- TATX: Text item category for adding text lines to a sales document.
- AGX: Quotation item category for items in quotations (not relevant for billing).
- AFG: Free of charge item category for items not to be priced.
